MPC Artist Residency Application 2025

01/12/2024 - 09/04/2025

We invite dance artists with innovative ideas to apply for a residency at the Mediterranean Dance Center San Vincenti, located in the heart of Istria, Croatia. If you work in contemporary dance, physical theatre, performance art, or other crossover artistic fields connected to dance, we want to hear from you. If you seek time to explore, be inspired by nature, and enjoy the tranquility of a small Istrian town, consider applying. In 2025, between April and November, we are organizing artistic residencies. A standard residency lasts 7-10 days, but longer stays can be requested with justification in the application.

CONDITIONS OF THE CALL
During the residency, selected artists will live and work in the Center.
The studio is 9 x 20 meters with a wooden floor (optional black or white dance floor), basic working lights (no special equipment), a wardrobe, a sanitary facility, and a kitchenette.
MPC accommodates up to 5 people in an open-space sleeping area on the upper floor overlooking the studio. For groups exceeding 5, please provide details in your application. MPC will cover food expenses during the residency.

If offered a residency, we expect you to accept the conditions above, cover your travel expenses, and make an open presentation for the audience at the end of your stay. But if you feel you won`t be ready to test the work in front of an audience, you can choose to teach a workshop instead. Or you can do both, which is preferable. Other propositions like round tables or performing other work during the stay are also welcome.

NOTE: In the final application steps, you can choose whether and how much to donate. Donations support minor repairs and maintenance of the residency space. Donating is optional and will not influence our selection process.

The deadline for applications is 23:59 hours CET on January 7th, 2025.
